Robocon is the biggest international robotics competition in Asia-Pacific region. Major Asian countries like China, Japan, India, Pakistan and Vietnam participate in the contest to show their technological supermacy. The magnitude of the competition can be judged from the fact that only one team from a country is allowed to participate, with the host being allowed to field two teams. In the competition robots compete to complete a task within a set period of time. The contest aims to create friendship among young people with similar interests who will lead their countries in the 21st century, as well as help advance engineering and broadcasting technologies in the region. In India, it is telecasted by Doordarshan which is also one of its members. It might just be a competition for the organizers and other people,but for us,it is the platform for gaining technical skills.

ROBOCON has been one of the most momentous journey of my life. I was recruited in the team in 2011-12 session and in my 3 years with Team ROBOCON IITR, I have unquestionably expanded my knowledge and limits to a whole new level. The team is like a family of passionate undergraduate engineers working together throughout the year and round the clock to achieve one goal. The technical aspects involve all the basics to the most complex concepts of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering. The range of challenges and emotions one experiences is stupendous. The exposure that I got by representing my college at national level was a brilliant opportunity. Some of the everlasting friendships that I have with so many talented people is in itself a testimony. Best of luck to TEAM ROBOCON IITR in all its future endeavors.

Robocon for me is a great teacher. In just three modest years, I learned techniques that I will expend over a lifetime. When I try recollecting the experiences, each happening captures a different turning point in my life. Robocon is the highest level platform in India for showcasing your prowess as a Robotics engineer. Robocon at IITR consists of some highly motivated people who work day and night to fulfill the IITR's dream of representing India at ABU Robocon. CONTEST THEME: Asobi - The Landing Disc

The theme revolves around the word "asobi" (play), which is also a fundamental philosophy behind Robocon. In "asobi," playful, unique, original show of skills is often more important than winning or losing, as everyone - friend and foe alike - can applaud and enjoy them.
